Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord He is God….
Psalm 100:1-3

The Parish Choir is the largest and primary vocal ensemble of the parish. The choir is a mixed voice (SATB), non-auditioned ensemble whose repertoire spans from Gregorian Chant to contemporary compositions in addition to aiding the congregations’ sung prayer weekly at the 10:30 a.m. Mass and other special liturgies throughout the year. The Parish Choir rehearses 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the Choir Room. The current choir year is from the Sunday after Labor Day until Corpus Christi with rehearsals beginning the next to last Wednesday evening in August. If singers are unsure of their voice part, a short “voice check” should occur prior to entering the choir. To schedule a “voice check”, contact the Organist-Choirmaster.
REHEARSALS - WEDNESDAY: 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Adults (9th grade and up). Ability to read music and previous choir experience preferred. Max 36
Treble Choir
The Treble Choir is for 3rd – 8th graders that provides both an introduction to (for new choristers) and continued training in (for veteran choristers) the choral music of the Church’s tradition particular to the treble voice. The choir sings on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at the 12:15 p.m. Mass and rehearses on Thursday afternoons from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in the Choir Room. Members of the choir, who are enrolled in Holy Rosary School, sing weekly at the Friday 8:15 a.m. Mass when school is in session. The Treble Choir also sings for special liturgies throughout the year both by themselves and in combination with the Parish Choir.
Schola Cantorum
The Schola Cantorum is an auditioned choir of boys (with unchanged voices) and girls of the 6th – 8th grades that concentrate on chant and more difficult polyphony than the Treble Choir. The schola sings at the 12:15 p.m. Mass on the 3rd Sunday of the month and special liturgies throughout the year and rehearses on Tuesday afternoons from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Members are encouraged to be members of the Treble Choir though it is not required. Choristers who are enrolled in Holy Rosary School also sing weekly at the Wednesday 8:15 a.m. Mass. To schedule an audition, contact the Organist-Choirmaster.
Cantor
Cantors aid the congregation in sung prayer during liturgies in which choirs do not participate. The cantor primarily functions as the psalmist, proclaiming the Responsorial Psalm and the Gospel Acclamation during the Liturgy of the Word.
Cantors are to be adults (9th grade and up), possessing a good voice, confidence, poise, and must successfully complete an audition with the Organist-Choirmaster.
Adult Youth and Handbell Choirs
The Handbell Choirs provide non-vocal, but musically active, part of the Music Ministry of Holy Rosary. The choirs usually perform once a month by themselves or, more commonly, in combination with the organ and/or other vocal choirs.
Instrumentalists
Accomplished musicians supplement the choral ensembles and provide instrumental music throughout the year. Musicians who play woodwinds, brass, strings, and percussion are encouraged to contact the Organist-Choirmaster so their names and instruments may be included on the contact list. With enough interest, possibilities extend to the creation of parish instrumental ensembles.
Music Ministry Assistant
Music Ministry Assistants are volunteers who desire to be involved with the Music Ministry of Holy Rosary, but who may feel a vocal or instrumental ensemble is not where their talents lie. These dedicated volunteers aid the Organist-Choirmaster in the administration of various aspects of the Music Ministry.
